Is algaecal better than citracal for gastric bypass patients with osteoporosis? I’ve been told by my dietician that citracal is the best for me and better absorbed.

I am 75 yrs. old and have been now diagnosed with Osteopina. I am vegan since a few yrs. and vegetarian nearly all of my life. I am healthy with very good lab. results and am on natural supplements since about 10 yrs. i walk daily and eat all plant based foods. now I will be starting on Algaecal.plus. I cook Meditterenean and only Italian foods, hope you have good vegan options because I do not eat nor like fish or eggs or cheeses except for one hard Italian cheese. Thank you.

Lara Pizzorno has previously shared about this in the AlgaeCal Community (welcome, by the way!) – here’s her response copied below:
“That depends on YOU — what your typical diet is providing for you and your genetic inheritance, which can increase your needs for various nutrients. In general, it’s a good idea to take a multiple vitamin and mineral supplement, which will give you small amounts of a wide range of nutrients. In addition, many people need extra vitamin D. After you’ve been taking AlgaeCal Plus for several months, you can determine if you need a bit more vitamin D by having your blood levels of 25(OH)D run –this is the form in which vitamin D circulates in the bloodstream and the form checked to determine your vitamin D adequacy. This lab should be covered by your medical insurance. Here’s a link to a video I taped with more info on vitamin D testing.
If you are not eating wild-caught cold-water fish (e.g., sardines, salmon, halibut) quite frequently, it’s extremely likely that you are not getting sufficient omega-3s, and you should consider having your omega-6:omega-3 ratio checked and taking Triple Power. Here’s a link for information on checking omega-3 levels.
Quite a few people also benefit from supplemental B vitamins, which, if taken, should be taken as a full B complex supplement that provides the B vitamins in their active forms.”

I am taking Calcium citrate, magnesium and D3. Should I stop taking these when I start with Algaecal?
Good question, Terry! AlgaeCal Plus contains a clinical dosage of 720 mg calcium and 350 mg of magnesium to increase your bone density, so you will not need additional calcium or magnesium supplementation. Vitamin D3 supplementation requirements vary greatly from person to person, so to make sure you’re getting the right amount, check out this link.
