Meet Cynthia Martin, the 69-Year-Old Weightlifting Champion

Fitness / May 20, 2020

Cynthia Martin fell in love with weightlifting later in life. In fact, she was 64 years old when she picked up her first free weight.

She went on to win the 2018 National Weightlifting Championship for the 65-year-old age group in Buffalo, New York. Quite the accomplishment!

Now, with Cynthia’s 70th birthday on the horizon, she shows no sign of slowing down. The owner of the gym where she works out even jokes that Cynthia outpaces them all…

So how does she do it?

Well, Cynthia loves the sense of accomplishment she gets from a good workout, and she’s also motivated by the fact that strength-training is great for her bone density.

Cynthia’s story is truly inspiring — and goes to show it really is never too late to start a workout regimen and improve your quality of life!
