The Lifestyle of 40-Year-Old Vegetarian, Cindy, Will Amaze You – Yet She Still Got Osteoporosis
- I’ve been a vegetarian for 40 years and stopped eating refined sugar and flour at that time.
- I exercise and am outside a LOT.
- I meditate and am retired so have a low stress level.
Even so, after I turned 60 health issues appeared. First was osteoarthritis in my hands. After much searching and trial I have found a great product that works wonderfully. It is called CM Response. Cetyl-M is a main ingredient. I learned of Cetyl-M from a top notch equine hospital and saw it work on horses. CM Response is the human product. It took a couple bottles before it started to really work but work it did. After a couple years my dosage is now 3/day but I believe I started with 6. My hands are still lumpy and fingers crooked but there is zero pain.
The next year the osteoporosis issue popped up. I was very surprised by this because I have always been very healthy. About 10 years earlier I had a drugstore test where they check your heel and I was above average at that point. Well 10 years had made a difference and part of what happened in that 10 years a friend of mine had melanoma and I started using a lot of sunscreen and sunblock clothing. I think I had a problem with not getting enough vitamin D.
Anyways in September 2012, I had osteoporosis in both hips and in my spine. The spine being the worst. It was minus -3.1. So I was in a panic as most of us do and did a lot of research and didn’t like what I read. As far as medications are concerned and the side effects. I went on forums where people were really having those side effects happen. I’ve been a vegetarian since 1975 and I don’t eat sugar and medications don’t really suit my temperament. So I decided to see what else was out there and found AlgaeCal.
Well, I’ve tried it for a year and just went back for my follow up DEXA scan with very good results. My left hip has improved 3.9%, right hip 6.4% and best of all spine 7.5%. So I’m very happy. I don’t have osteoporosis in either hip anymore. It is now osteopenia and I’m borderline on spine. So maybe next year this time, I won’t have osteoporosis at all. So this had made me very happy.
I also tried to keep my diet on the alkaline side and and bought a 10 lb vest to wear when walking. However, I believe the AlgaeCal is what has made the big differences. Both hips are now osteopenia and I hope this year the spine will be too. It was borderline last year thanks to AlgaeCal.
Last year my latest challenge was being diagnosed pre-diabetic. I am skinny, have low cholesterol, low BP and I exercise. But I do have family history. After tons of research and adjusting my diet, which was already very good, I started trying various supplements to help.
I was losing weight due to restricting carbs and being vegetarian (1 piece of whole grain pizza instead of 3, no potatoes, etc) and was hungry all the time. I have found the magic supplement. It is called berberine. The product I am using is called Glyco-X 500 and is sold on Amazon. The 500 stands for mg and I have now ordered a 250 mg bottle as there are times my sugar is dropping lower than I’d like.
I have learned what foods I can eat a lot of, learned that you can exercise to drop the sugar 40 points in about 10 minutes and many other helpful things. But the berberine has changed my life. I’m back to 3 pieces of pizza. And the other day I actually had 1/2 a twice baked potato with sugar only going to 111 afterward. I am now taking 500 mg/day (starting is 1500) and I might be able to go lower.
Some people have gastrointestinal issues with berberine but I have had no side effects. I will never be eating chocolate cake and pastries but I don’t want to. I make homemade honey vanilla ice cream and that works. One other resource that is useful is a snack bar called The Simply Bar. I get the cinnamon/pecan and because it is made with puffed soy instead of rice the glycemic index on it is low. The ingredients are basic too.
My two cents to others is if you are leaning toward a natural approach to a health issue don’t let a doctor scare you into something you don’t really want to do, like [medications]. Try the natural approach first and see if you can’t be healed in that way first.
I hope this helps other people. Sorry this is so long but I have a lot to say on this subject.
*You can see that Cindy has given her health a lot of thought which is what prompted us to give her a call after she sent her story in.
On the call she told us that in addition to the points above she rides her horse 6 times a week and tries to walk 2 miles 5 times a week. She also mentioned that she consumes dairy, eggs, beans, grains, tofu and soy. She doesn’t keep track of what she eats daily but she’s been eating more eggs and dairy this year and her cholesterol has actually gone down 9 points.
She also mentioned that the DEXA scans she had in 2013 were from the same machine and same technician so her bone density increase is accurate.
Sometimes it helps to hear from others experiencing the same things so hopefully this story served as a positive reminder that you can in fact overcome osteoporosis and other health issues, naturally.
Yes, it’s challenging, and yes, there is a lot to learn and do. But the message is clear: just like Cindy, you can tackle one thing at a time, and there are natural solutions out there you can count on.
Good morning. My name is Cindy Casey and I live in Mariposa, California, and I wanted to share with you how I’m doing with the AlgaeCal products. I made a video after I’d been on them one year because I had good results, and now I’ve been on them three years and, again, I’m having real good results.
So my last DEXA scan, which was recently, showed that I don’t have any readings in osteoporosis at this time. They’re all osteopenia, which is really great. So I’ll give you my readings.
- My left hip was, three years ago, -2.6, now it is -2.2. That’s a 7.4% improvement.
- Right hip was -2.7, it’s now -2.4. That’s a 4.5% improvement.
- And spine, which did the best, was -3.1, now is -2.2. That’s a 14.5% improvement.
So I’m real happy with this and I wanted to share that with other people who are considering these supplements. I also wanted to mention that I do wear a weighted vest when I walk, not in the summer so much because it’s rather hot in the summer, but other times of year. Because I’m a small person and that probably has some benefit.
And the last thing I wanted to mention is that my doctor wrote a prescription for Strontium, and I found out that I can use that with my husband’s flex plan. And what they told me is that I can use it one time. If it’s ongoing, I need to get a letter of medical necessity, and I’m sure she’ll write that. So that’s a way to save a little bit of money if you happen to have a flex plan.
So again, I wanted to say I recommend this product, and I hope it will work as well for you as it has for me. Thanks.
