Needless to say, it can come as quite a shock. That’s why I wanted to review a few of the things you should do if you’ve recently been diagnosed. For some of you these points will serve as a good reminder, and for others, it just might steer you down a healthy path to recovery VS a path laden with more pain, angst, and further damage to your body and health. I’ve Been Diagnosed with Osteoporosis, Now What? “I have osteoporosis, now what?” The first thing to recognize is that if you’ve been diagnosed with osteoporosis or low bone density (osteopenia), it’s not your fault! Did you know that research shows you can restore and maintain your bone health safely, effectively, and NATURALLY? A Bone Mineral Density Increase of 3% This independent study has confirmed what we have been doing at AlgaeCal since 2006. After the completion of a 12-month Combination of Micronutrient for Bone (COMB) Study published by the Journal of Environmental and Public Health, results revealed an increase of bone mineral density of more than 3% for a major proportion of participants. “This combined micronutrient supplementation regimen appears to be at least as effective as bisphosphonates or strontium ranelate in raising BMD levels in hip, spine, and femoral neck sites,” according to researcher Dr. Stephen Genius. A small team of researchers from Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University have put together a package that encases material that is identical to the ingredients that allow bone to re-grow and heal where there are injuries. The package is placed where bone needs to heal. The package is used as a storage and delivery tool for the nature-alike material to the fractures. (1) It has been observed that following this method of delivery heals serious bone injuries faster than any of the current methods used worldwide. The new technique also helps heal bone wounds that have no chance of healing if left to it’s own devices and such injuries where bone re-growth is expected to be very slow. As per Melissa Knothe Tate, a joint professor of biomedical engineering and mechanical & aerospace engineering at Case Western Reserve University, “We’re…

Though osteoporosis has always been associated more with women than men and media content on osteoporosis usually covers women because they are more susceptible to the condition, a quiet 17 million men over the age of 50 go unspoken about. (1) However, there is hope in the form of a new risk assessment tool developed by the World Health Organization called the FRAX® tool that helps detect the level of risk of osteoporosis in both men and women. Dr. Silvina Levis, Founder and Director of Osteoporosis Center (a clinical research center and a joint venture Miller School of Medicine and the Miami VA Medical Center), even goes on to point that once men get a fracture of the hips due to osteoporosis, their chances of dying after the incident doubles when compared to women. The FRAX tool will ask the…
