AlgaeCal is proud to announce the start of its first ever Scholarship Program, offering a $1000 scholarship to interested applicants enrolled at a college/university in the 2013-2014 school year, or who are enrolling in the upcoming semester. Applicants will download and fill out an AlgaeCal Health Scholarships Application Form and write an essay up to 750 words, describing “If you could, what, if any, changes to programs, policies and education etc. would you implement for the general health/ well being of the average modern person?”

The AlgaeCal Scholarship originated from the desire to financially assist students in pursuit of higher education as they face the challenge of significantly rising costs of obtaining a college degree. Also, it stemmed from the need for greater focus on the critical issue of health and wellbeing. With two thirds of the U.S. reported to be overweight, and one third obese, more dialogue and solutions are obviously still in need to manage and correct this huge rising health crisis.

Students need to complete an application form. The deadline is Monday, June 30, 2014.
